Whilst I agree the G195 and U50 have a role to play in address the global sustainability problem, the fundamental problem are the governance structures we have – no one is really accountable for global systemic issues.  Put simply,

    – Individuals are accountable to their family and friends
    – Corporations accountable to their shareholders
    – Pension funds accountable to their members
    – Local, State and Federal Governments accountable to their people/countries
    and
    – No one is accountable to the world.

Whilst International Groups like the UN / COP look to address global issues, they have no real power to act and enforce.  Whilst they have influence their lack of power make the cumbersome and slow to act eg. COP has has been working for 21 years+ to get to where we are at today.  The sustainability issues are growing and need to be addressed with urgency.

Individuals, Corporations/Pensions funds, governments can all contribute, but this won’t address the core issues of our planet’s destruction in a timely way.
