One response to “Texas ERS reallocates to managers to help navigate concentrated equity market”

Thank you for this insightful article. It provides valuable perspective for emerging fund managers on the challenges LPs face with concentrated private equity exposure. I’m curious whether ERS considers co-investments with independent sponsors or acquisition platforms as a potential source of differentiated returns and diversification, particularly given the flexibility of deal-by-deal capital and the ability to avoid some of the constraints of traditional blind-pool private equity, where capital is committed for a long period before the underlying investments are known and with limited visibility into how the portfolio will ultimately be constructed.

Is PE a superior form of ownership?

Almost exactly 30 years ago, a famous article by Michael Jensen in the Harvard Business Review predicted that private equity would “eclipse” the public corporation because it was a superior form of corporate ownership. Academics at Oxford's Said Business School examine whether this prediction has played out.
