National Pension Service (NPS) is a public pension fund based in Seoul, South Korea. Established in 1987, to help secure the retirement benefits of Korean citizens with income security, thereby promoting national welfare in the case of retirement, disability, or death. The fund invests in alternative investments, such as private equity, venture capital, real estate, and hedge funds. NPS also makes direct investments, operates its own private equity funds, and participates in one-off investments with Korean and foreign private equity firms. The assets are managed by the executive management team.
