Paul Marcussen

Paul Marcussen is lead portfolio manager in the external strategies team at NBIM, the manager of Norway's $2.1 trillion sovereign wealth fund. External strategies allocates capital to active fund managers across a $110+ billion platform that has outperformed its benchmark in 22 of 26 years, generating $17.5 billion in cumulative excess returns. He previously built and led NBIM's New York office for 18 years, scaling the team from 18 to over 100 professionals and growing assets under oversight from $100 billion to $1.2 trillion across equities, fixed income, real estate, and renewable infrastructure. Marcussen started his career in the Royal Norwegian Navy where he served as a second lieutenant. After gaining a Masters in Finance from London Business School, he worked for Morgan Stanley, Salomon Smith Barney and Gjensidige within various portfolio management and equity research functions. Marcussen is a CFA charterholder.
