Mario Therrien

Mario Therrien leads the team at CDPQ responsible for alternative strategies, external equity and fixed income fund management, and operational due diligence. The team also develops and maintains strategic and institutional relationships in public markets, with a mandate to add value by building portfolios with external managers and improving in-house management through knowledge-sharing.

Therrien joined CDPQ in 1993 as an analyst, moved into portfolio management in the absolute return group, and was subsequently mandated to develop external management activities in liquid-asset classes. He previously served as senior managing director and head of strategic partnerships, developed markets.

He holds a Bachelor's in economics and a Master's in finance from Université de Sherbrooke, has completed the Canadian Securities Course, and is a CFA charterholder.
