Colin Tate AM is an Australian entrepreneur and philanthropist. An investment industry media publisher and conference producer since 1996, he has launched and overseen multiple print and electronic publications throughout his career.
He is the founder of publishing company Conexus Financial. Established in 2005, Conexus has grown to become Australia’s largest independent financial media and events organisation. Each year the company hosts more than 20 high-profile business forums in Australia and overseas. Conexus produces three online publications, Top1000funds.com for global investors, Professional Planner for Australian financial advisers, accountants and private bankers and Investment Magazine for Australian super funds and institutional investors. He is founder of The Conexus Institute, an independent, not-for-profit think-tank established to be a catalyst for improved retirement outcomes for Australians. The Conexus Institute connects industry, academia, regulators and policymakers and applies a research-for-impact model to promote informed decision-making.
Tate is also chair of Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA), an independent, not-for-profit
institute dedicated to preventing and curing disease and disability of the brain and nervous
system through leadership and innovation in neuroscience research.
In addition, he also served as a board member and chair of fundraising at Australia’s most high [1]profile homeless charity, The Wayside Chapel (2005-2012), raising millions to help vulnerable and
marginalised people start a new life.
Tate and his husband Matt have been global investors in The Hunger Project since 2005. They
are major investors in the Mbale community in Uganda where education, microfinance, agriculture and health initiatives have empowered 60,000 people in 28 villages with the skills, knowledge and resources they need to break the poverty cycle. He has also been a supporter and fundraiser for First Nations Foundation (FNF).
In 2021, Tate was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to the
community through charitable initiatives.
