The Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA) is a public pension fund based in Montgomery, Alabama. The plan was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. RSA manages investment and pensions for the Alabama Employee Retirement System, Teachers Retirement System, Public Education Employees’ Health Insurance Plan and Judicial Retirement Fund. The plan assets are managed by the Boards of Controls, which consists of members from both the Teachers’ Retirement System Board and the Employees’ Retirement System Board.
